Hello my name is Sheryl and I’m one of the Sony technicians at VideoOneRepair.com. You’re probably watching this video because you’re having problems with your Sony HDR-FX1000 camcorder. I’d like to see if I can help you get your camcorder up and running again.
The problem that this Sony camcorder is experiencing, is it will not allow us to record and is displaying an error message saying “The tape is locked – check the tab”.
Mechanical problems that we also see is the camcorder going into an error code such as C:31:23 or C:31:22. Other error messages that you may see in addition to C:31:23 and C:31:22, are C:32:23, C:32:22, C:31:30 and C:32:30. You may also be experiencing picture problems when trying to play back a tape.
The first step is to try resetting the camcorder. This is done by removing the power source such as the battery or ac adaptor, waiting a few seconds and then reattaching it. Also make sure to try a new fresh tape.
If the camcorder continues to go into error or is still not working properly, then it will need to be repaired professionally by an experienced technician who specializes working on these camcorders.
